Why Postgraduate Studies in a UK University?

One of the basic reasons that the Greek student chooses to attend a U.K University is that the experience of studying in the UK will give the student the necessary educational tools to withstand the demands of modern business environment. U.K POSTGRADUATE STUDIES DIPLOMAS

DIPLOMA / POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATE

Its a 9-month program of studies, the stage before the Masters' degree.

MASTERS'

The Masters' program lasts for about 12 months .All the Masters' programs (M.A, M.Sc) requires 9-month studies program (lessons, seminars), final exams, dissertation for another 3-months.

MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY M.PHIL

A two year program of studies which is based on courses, seminars and research. At the end of studies the student has to defend their dissertation. The M.Phil title is also called Pre-doctoral degree.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY PhD

The doctoral diploma is awarded to the candidates after a 3-5 year study and work on a prototype project under the supervision of a Professor who over views the progress of the project.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE CRITERIA

In order for the student to attend Postgraduate studies, the student must have an excellent command of the English language. The most acceptable titles of English certificate for UK Universities are:

  • - International English Language Testing (I.E.L.T.S)
  • - Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English
  • - Oxford-Arels Examination (TESOL)
  • - General Certificate of Ordinary Level (GCE-O)
  • - TOEFL

CHOOSING AN "APPROPRIATE" UNIVERSITY

One of the main concerns that the student must keep in mind is the return on the investment, meaning how much should I spend on a Postgraduate degree.

  • - Which University is suitable for my career path and at what cost
  • - Which Professor is available and willing to work with me
  • - How will be the job market be after graduation
  • - Am I choosing an appropriate University suitable for both my knowledge and my requirements?
